Background

Joey grew up in Juneau, AK but left the nest early for high school in Barcelona and Colorado, before settling at Lewis & Clark College for his undergraduate degree. After a brief career in the beer industry, Joey joined the fledgling Airbnb in 2012, taking his remote work seriously and living out of his Volvo station wagon for 3 years around the American midwest, followed by 4 in San Francisco. His career ranged from government affairs specialist, to his eventual role as a Program Manager in Airbnb's Business Development department. He returned to Alaska in 2019, running a campaign in South Anchorage, working in the Alaska Legislature, and settling back in Juneau.
